2017 MACVB Education Summit Review

And what a couple days it was!  About 50 people attended the 2017 MACVB Education Summit at Fair Hills Resort near Detroit Lakes.  A nice mix of tourism professionals, speakers and vendors made for great learning and networking in a very nice intimate setting.

Speaking of the setting, Fair Hills Resort did a wonderful job.  If you haven’t been to Fair Hills Resort, imagine the movie Dirty Dancing.  A family resort with amenities anyone can use like pool, foosball, shuffleboard, ping pong, beach, pool, paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, 9 hole golf course… you get the picture.

After an opening round of educational seminars, participants boarded the Fair Hills Pontoon boat.  Now this isn’t your ordinary pontoon, this one held 55.  With coolers of refreshments aboard, we enjoyed wonderful weather while touring Big Pelican Lake.

The meals were terrific.  The opening night dinner was a combo of steak and chicken breast on the grill with 24 hours salad and much more.  And the deserts, yummy.

After dinner, the resort staff put on their weekly show for us called a hootenanny.  Basically, staff made up of many high school and college aged folks from around the area, U.S. and world performed a variety of fun skits.  While the piano player made the piano come to life, kids gave it everything they had.  It was impressive and our group really enjoyed it.

After dinner, while some retired back to their cabins, many hung out on a beautiful lake with a full moon enjoying their favorite drink with friends, new and old.

Tuesday was filled with more education.  Seminars, legislative info and a special guest and a big supporter of tourism in MN, State Senator Carrie Ruud.

A big “Thank you” to our sponsors, AdtaxiOrange142, and Media One as well as attendees, speakers, Visit Detroit Lakes MN, and Fair Hills Resort for a magnificent MACVB Education Summit. Lots of learning, networking and fun. To learn more about MACVB, go to www.MinnesotaCVBS.com
